ZIP DOG BACKGROUND

Zip Dog records is the most talked about record label on the new dub scene. Since 1995, its early singles by Emperor Sly and then its first album, Club meets Dub V1.0, have shown Zip Dog's vision of unity between the heady, urgent rhythms of contemporary dance music and the spaced-out effects and bootshakin' bass of dub reggae.

VARIOUS: CLUB MEETS DUB V3.0
(Dub / Dance)

Cat. No. ZD14CD

'A stunning and awesome journey that stretches the concept of dub through breakneck beats and bass. An open minded selection for all club dancefloors and an album that'll sit in the 'current favourite pile' by my CD player for a long while.' DJ magazine, UK

'Following the success of the first two instalments Zip Dog have conjured up another selection of tracks that take the dark roots of dub and throw them into the day-glo club scene.' Wax magazine, UK

'Skillfully riding the curl between drum&bass cataclysm and dub wipeout, this third compilation treats Dub War, Emperor Sly, Xenos and more to gymnastic but engaging bass-heavy remixes. Must stock.' Music Week, UK trade press

'A complete musical kicking.' Bassline magazine, UK

VARIOUS: CLUB MEETS DUB V4.0
(Dub / Dance / Drum & Bass / Garage etc)

Cat. No. ZD19CD

'..excellently open-minded collection.' DJ magazine, UK

'..caning the woofers while bringing pleasure to the ear drums. Keep deep dancing.' i-D magazine, UK

'From deep New York house to hardstepping jungle, dub's impact on the dancefloor has been a major one, a point 'Club Meets Dub' hammers home well .. it all makes perfect sense .. merely reaffirms that we should all put our faith in bass that little bit more' DJ magazine, UK

'..is the same sort of thing (as Kickin's cracking compilation of updated electro business, Nu Skool Breakz) but with extra basslines.' Guardian newspaper, UK

Featuring: Serious Danger, Bong Brothers, Roni Size, Emperor Sly, Mad Professor, Pfink, Balafon Allstars, Robert Brylewski, Astralasia, The Rootsman, Junk and Smart Alec + Clever Cloggs (All Seeing I Purpl-ized mix).

Dub from the street - up thru your feet! Metropolitan message: Serious Danger and Roni Size bring a raggamuffin shout from the pavement corner; Mad Professor and Pfink take things sweetly but beatily downtempo; the vibe changes to a dustbin alley breakbeat clatter from Balafon and Brylewski and a cry of protest from Astralasia; fittingly we end in a dark club with Smart Alec and Clever Cloggs pondering the evils of drink (All Seeing I Purpl-ized mix).

ROUGHCUT FEATURING SESCO D: COME OUT
(Dub meets World)

Cat. No. ZD11CD

'Roughcut serve up a full helping of their secret recipe of exotic Asian rhythms and percussion, deep beats and reggae vocals. The result is a fine flavour of future dub. Tobago born vocalist Sesco adds a voice that can handle the manic ragga vox on Ghetto Livin, which has a house and acid feel to it but is also on an ethno tip, to the milder dub rap of Almighty.' Wax magazine, UK
