Cat. No. WGS 273 CD

'...we seem to have delight all the way with Misalliance offering some lovely pieces... The song list is fascinating for its source variations and an object lesson to those who take no interest in albums which don't offer familiar material.......you'll be a long time tiring of hearing this album; it will leave you feeling good and wanting more. The trio are happiest with their instrumentals and they have a love of their work which is impossible to pretend.' Folk On magazine, UK

The album features tunes and songs from the UK and France dating from the 16th Century onwards. Some lovely instrumental pieces. The band includes Tony Hooper, formerly with The Strawbs.

Hector Gilchrist is a long-standing performer of Burn's work. With Liz Thomson, whose knowledge of traditional and contemporary Scottish folk is extensive, he sings as the duo Selkie, known for their sensitive and easy style. Bill Eddie's fiddle playing ranges from Scots music with the Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society to classical music with the University Symphony Orchestra and jazz with Jazz Avec and French connection.

Amongst the many excellent musicians joining Selkie on this album is a rare appearance by Doug Bailey from WildGoose.

'a feast of inspiring music.' What's Afoot magazine, UK

What's Afoot magazine went on: 'Belshazzar's Feast consists of virtuoso accordion player, Paul Hutchinson, formerly of the Old Pull and Push Band, and the talented classically trained singer and multi-instrumentalist, Paul Sartin.

They are joined by guest musicians and ensembles to produce an exciting blend of musical influences ranging from classical to folk tunes from around the world, with a hymn and a 15th Century drinking song thrown in for good measure.'

Formerly guest oboist with the band Magpie Lane, Paul Sartin is not only in demand as a session musician, he also plays with dance band, Malarky, has recently been working with The Seven Dials Band and is a professional singer at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. He is also a feature writer for Musical South and co-presenter of Oxygen FM's folk music programme.

Renowned as a virtuoso accordion player, Paul Hutchison's folk career started in Bournemouth's celebrated Old Pull and Push Band, playing at many of the premier folk festivals in the UK. He later formed Irish folk/rock band IQ40. More recently he has been working on Mick Ryan's folk opera, A Day's Work, and playing on sessions in the UK and abroad.
